Total New Polystyrene Plant in Ningbo

November 12, 2014, Ningbo – Total China today inaugurated a new polystyrene plant in Ningbo, located at the Petrochemical Economic & Technological Development Zone in Zhenhai District.  Lu Ziyue, Mayor of Ningbo City, Wang Jianhou, vice Mayor of Ningbo City, Laurent Martin, Economic Counsellor of French Consulate-General in Shanghai attended the inauguration ceremony together with over 300 guests.

At the ceremony, Lu Ziyue, Mayor of Ningbo City addressed, “Total is one of the world’s leading oil, gas and petrochemicals companies, and No. 5 listed oil and gas company in the world with leading position in polystyrene market. We wish that the success operation of the new plant will boost the development of Ningbo Petrochemical Economic & Technological Development Zone and even the entire Ningbo economy at large.”

The new polystyrene plant, wholly owned by Total Group, covers an area of about 111,600 m2 and is designed to produce up to 200,000 tons of high-end and high impact polystyrene. The plant has been put into operation since September, serving the household appliances market in eastern, middle and northern China.

Philippe Sauquet, President of Total Refining & Chemicals and member of the Executive Committee of Total, remarked, “we are glad to land this polystyrene investment in Ningbo Petrochemical Economic & Technological Development Zone, which enjoys solid supply of raw materials and advanced transportation facilities and infrastructures.
